The set consists of 4 pencils on the HB graphite scale. The "H" pencils have harder graphite cores, produce lighter marks, and sharpen to fine points. They are ideal for lighter areas and underdrawing. 

The "B" pencils have softer graphite cores, produce darker and thicker marks, and need sharpening more often. They are used for sketching and shading.
